Struggling with this... using the primer on the Maxent page, I have been trying to create future climate BIOCLIM files for north america. I am fine up until the "create .clim files" at step 6f.
At that point, I have copied a .gri and .grd file and renamed them "alt", both extensions. I have changed the tmin to tmin_ , etc. the files do not show up in the file browser. if i click "OK" then I get a .cli file that is only 1 KB. There is no error message. Anyone have any ideas?

Area calculation
Greetings Everyone!
I am describing Agroforestry practices and have to determine the agroforestry systems area. I collected from the field GPS position of some points derscribing the limite of each system. I project those point in Diva-Gis and make a polygone shapefile with them for each system. Using Layer_Table menu, I get the areas. On gives 4,7 but what is the unit of those areas? Obviously not in km2. Is there anybody to help?
Will be greatly Appreciated.
Have a great day

You can download the climate files here:
http://biogeo.ucdavis.edu/data/climate/worldclim/1_4/diva/diva_worldclim... (1950-200)
and

Remembar that you must to unzip files in c:\program files\diva-gis\environ\

CLM file
Hi,
i have the same problem. someone could help me please?
thanks
CLM primer
The primer does not explain well how the filename business works. Each climate variable needs to have a filename starting with the same prefix. In the screenshot in the example in the primer that could be something like "CCCMA_a2a_2050_tmin_" but it could be anything, as long as there are twelve files with that prefix, and that the prefix is followed by numbers from 1 to 12 (or 01 to 12); and perhaps a suffix (if so, add that in the suffix box).
- With a filename like "tmin_" make sure you also add the "_" to the file prefixes.
- Make sure you see the files in the "file browser" in the upper left hand corner. If not, first browse to the correct folder
- recheck the check-boxes
- press the "Files" button
...
Also, rather than renaming one of the files and call it "alt" I would use an altitude file which, at least in the worldclim, are readily available.
And I do not think you need to go via ArcGIS (which is what the primer suggests), you can also directly import the .bil files into DIVA. Not?

help!
so what are we doing wrong when we get the following error:
could not convert variant of type (null) into type integer
Please, I would appreciate some help. I have been trying to get the bioclim variable to work in DIVA GIS for three days! I cannot continue my work without this!
I have tried the tutorial of Julian that is posted, I have tried everything I can think of.
Why is it that before this all worked really easily and quickly... what happened?
Any help would be great and fully appreciated.
I just need to extract bioclim variables for a few species distributions...
Thanks
Making clim files in DIVA
Hi I am having the same problem at the same part of the tutorial and was wondering if you would be able to help me. I have followed your fix and named all my files wc_a2a_2020_prec_01, wc_a2a_2020_prec_02 ....03, 04 etc, but still when I hit the files button nothing appears in the 'selected files' boxes. I have also tried naming the files wcprec01_a2a_2020_prec_ ....with again the same result and I finally tried naming the files prec_01_wc_a2a_2020_prec_ but again have the same problem really not sure what I am doing wrong
Any help would be very gratefully appreciated!

Making clim files in DIVA
Hey Carolyn,
I solved it in the following way.
However you name the monthly tmin, tmax and prec files, you have to write the same prefix in the corresponding field of the "file prefixes" part of the "make clm files" mask in diva-gis.
e.g.
exemplary name of one prec file:
wc_a2a_2020_prec_01.grd
prefix in the prec field:
wc_a2a_2020_prec_
the same with the other files...
Or,
to avoid these problems, simply name all the files without prefixes, but only prec_01.grd - prec_12.grd, tmin_01.grd - tmin_12.grd, tmax_01.grd - tmax_12.grd. The mask fields should contain tmax_, tmin_, prec_.
best wishes

Hi Hugo, Did you have any
Hi Hugo,
Did you have any problem after that step, I mean when you press OK so the CLM are actually created. My DIVA crashes everytime I press OK!!
I will keep trying but I have no idea!
clm files
hey Renzo,
do you use Win 7 or Vista? Then try to run the diva.exe in compatibility mode (right click on that file, under properties or something like that), select win xp. I'm not sure but maybe that helps.
