Is DIVA compatible with other GIS software?

A: Yes, DIVA-GIS is highly compatible with other GIS programs such as ArcView and IDRISI. It uses ArcView shapefiles and it uses gridfiles that can be exported to and imported from standard grid data formats.

I can't run setup.exe

A: If you get an error message like:

16-bit MS-DOS Subsystem, path to the program you are trying to run
C:\WINNT\system32\autoexec.nt The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and
Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Then you have a Windows problem and can go here to find out what to do about it.

I can't see the "image" tab

A: This seems to be a problem depending on the version of windows you use and/or your screen resolution. Try a higher screen resolution. You can also press F10 to go to the image view and back.

The "environ" and/or "ecological niche modeling" functions do not work!

A: Go to Tools/Options/Climate and check if all the files (particularly the index file) are present.

B: Your data may be in a different projection than the climate data.

After working with the "assign coordinates" function I tried to close DIVA but I am getting the message "Please, close all inside windows".

You have minimized, and not closed the "Assign Coordinates" (or other) window. In that case it is still visible (but very small). Close the window.
