Dear all,
I’m using DIVA-GIS on a Windows XP and suddenly I was unable to open any raster file (GRD). A pop windows displays an error telling me that the associated bmp files cannot be open. This file is created by DIVA-GIS tough and can be displayed in any other image editors.
I uninstalled and reinstalled DIVA-GIS several times but this problem occurs on every version I tried from 5.2 to 7.3.0.
I'm still able to oead Shepefiles and MrSID.
I suspect the problem may be caused by a program (virus or other GIS application) that changed some low level DLL but I’m still unable to repair my system.
Did any of you ever face this issue before?

bmp file cannot be opened
No idea. I would delete the existing bmp file. If the error continues, perhaps you do not have permission to write to the folder where the grd file is stored?

conflict with QGIS
This was apparently caused by a conflict with Quantum-GIS (Copiapo version) installed with OSGEO4. Uninstalling QGIS and re-installing DIVA-GIS fixed the situation. But it would be nice to be able to use both (as I can). I will investigate...

Try moving the file you are
Try moving the file you are trying to open into a different originating folder. I had my .grd file originating in a "diva gis" folder to keep things organized but that is what was preventing me from opening the .grd file.
