Hi,
I'm currently trying to make some distribution maps of New Zealand organisms only using DIVA 7.1.7.2. I am using the NZL_adm0 map and the Map to Image function set at 5x resolution. When I use Target: Clipboard in the Map to Image screen, and paste this into Adobe Illustrator, I get a map with some white space around the map that I can't seem to get rid of (either before or after using Map to Image), and also nothing on the map is then editable in Illustrator. When I use Target: File, and save as a .emf file, I get an editable map with better resolution than using the Clipboard function that I can place into Adobe Illustrator (which is great), BUT the big problem is that I get an obscenely long map image that Illustrator is not happy with and I can't do anything in Illustrator to fix. I thought using the NZL_adm0 map would solve this problem (I was using the world_adm0 map previously) but it hasn't, and I think the issue is that the Chatham Islands are included in NZ but placed way on the other side in this map projection.
Can you please help or offer some advice? What I want is a nice map of New Zealand only, with NO white space around the map (or as little possible), that I can then edit in Adobe Illustrator (or another programme if you have a better idea) as I need to. Thanks for any advice!
