Hi everyone,

I am working on making species distribution / richness maps for LEbanon, for the whole flora (~ 2500 species). I have the names of the localities.

i have downloaded a txt file from GNS country files that containes all localities (~ 42000) and their coordinates and created a shape file in DICA-GIS for these localities.

going back to my species/localities excel document - looking up the coordinates of each locality and putting it in this excel doc might take forever. we are talking about 1000s of locality names.

my question is: any ideas about how to link these two documents i.e. 1. the file from GNS that has locality names/coordinates and 2. the file for the species/locality names?

any ideas would be highly appreciated
