convert text file with coordinate pairs to line / polygon shp file

I have been trying to convert the .txt file with coordinate pairs for the creation of a line shp file. but I'm unable to do that as Diva-GIS is not creating the shp, though I have done the same way as explained in the user guide. Can anyone help in this regard?
